Sujith Narayanan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his role as the Head of the Department of Journalism at SH School of Communication. With more than a decade of academic involvement, he has taught at various levels and has strong affiliations with reputable print and online media outlets. His areas of interest encompass PR & Advertising, Political Reporting, and Development Communication. Additionally, Sujith serves as the State Coordinator of 'Public Relations Council of India -Young Communicators Club', Kerala, further highlighting his leadership in the field. He is the driving force behind numerous successful events and campaigns such as the 'Thevara Literature Festival', 'Chavara Media Awards', 'Heartian Super Junior Model', 'Every Child is a VIP', and the 'SH Media Cup'. He is one of the recipients of the prestigious 'Manager's Excellence Award 2024' for his outstanding service to the institution.

Shanthi Mathai

Shanthi Mathai

Short Brief

Shanthi Mathai is an enterprising academic and seasoned professional with over 25 years of comprehensive experience in the areas of communication, journalism, social organisation, and women’s empowerment. With a profound commitment to education, she has dedicated the past 14 years to teaching in higher education, where she has inspired countless students and guided more than fifty students in postgraduate research and career development. Her academic interests are both broad and impactful, focusing on communication research, gender studies, cultural studies, journalism, and film studies. Her significant contribution to the field covers six research papers published in reputed journals, along with many book chapters and articles. Her publications include: Indian television in the eras of pre-liberalisation and liberalisation; Gender Inequality Questions in Caregiving in HIV/AIDS: Experiences of Faith Based Organisations; Humanly produced and transmitted media (HPTM): The Indian model of communication for liberation by Appavoo; Violence as resolution in Cinema Narrative A study of Malayalam Cinema since the inception of Film Awards by The Government of Kerala; Deconstructing power and gender, seeking equilibrium; The Principle of Nonviolent Resistance and its practice for longstanding peaceful solutions. Furthermore, she has explored her creative talents through a poetry book in Malayalam titled Ethirpattu and several poems in both English and Malayalam, showcasing her versatility as a scholar and artist.

Prof. Shanthi possesses a strong skill set that includes leadership, organisation, communication, and project management, making her an asset in any academic or professional context. As a speaker and trainer, she actively engages diverse audiences fostering a deeper understanding of complex issues in communication and gender studies. Her unwavering dedication to excellence and her capacity to connect with individuals have significantly influenced her career avenues such as the HOD of SH School of Communication, Reporter and Special Correspondent with the fortnightly magazine People’s Reporter, as a Columnist with Vanitha Bodhini, as Assistant Professor at JICM, Bhopal, Assistant Professor at Jagran Lakecity University, Bhopal, as Secretary, Young Women’s Forum, Asian Church Women’s Conference, as Secretary, Mar Thoma Women’s Commission and many other. Additionally, her extensive experience includes organising conferences, training programs, and workshops, as well as serving as a researcher and coordinator for the NGO Ecumenical Women at the United Nations, New York, where she facilitated orientation programs for international delegates attending the Commission on the Status of Women. Prof. Shanthi has also represented her expertise at various international and national conferences across the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Archana Women's Centre, Ettumanoor and a founding member of the movement ‘Nonkilling India’.

Mr. Belbin Baby is a Journalism Faculty in the SH School of Communication. He has completed his post-graduation in Mass Communication and Journalism from Calicut University. His industry experience has been with a reputed newspaper, Publication house including book editing magazine production and video production for 3 years. Still he works as freelance journalist for various magazines and online portals. He has more than 3years of experience in journalism teaching. His areas of interest are History and development of media, Political Reporting, business journalism, visual media production and online journalism.

Minna Ann Andrews

Minna Ann Andrews

Short Brief

Dr. Andrews is a linguist keen on exploring the 'linguistic sense' and hopes to impart the same to students and help them succeed. She is an observer on the ways to view society in terms of gender and power dissemination.

Dr. Andrews has 10+ years of experience in teaching in various institutions in India (Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala; Mar Athanasius College Autonomous, Kothamangalam; T.I.M.E Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad etc). She has also associated herself with Cognizant Technology Solutions, Chennai as a Technical Writer.

Dr. Andrews did her PhD in English Language Teaching from PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore. She is also an alumnus of Madras Christian College, Chennai, PSG College of Arts and Science and Govt. Victoria College, Palakkad.

Sangeetha P. S. is a UGC NET-qualified Mass Communication and Journalism Postgraduate and a PhD Scholar in Film Studies. At the age of 16, Sangeetha began experimenting with the media as a news reader on a regional channel in Thrissur. Sangeetha worked as a media professional for more than 7 years in a variety of media industries, including advertising, public relations, print, television, and online journalism. She has mostly worked in marketing communication and has been associated with advertising firms such as Push Integrated Communications, Rediffusion Y&R, and Ogilvy & Mather Bangalore. She has also collaborated with eminent actors like Mohanlal and Manju Warrior for the commercials of brands like Kalyan Jewellers, Dhathri Hair Oil, and Kannan Devan Tea.

She started her teaching journey in 2017 at the Centre for Media Studies, Jyoti Nivas College, Autonomous Bangalore. Along with teaching and learning, she has given many research presentations at national and international conferences and published research papers in reputed journals. She has a diploma in visual editing. During the last eight years of teaching, she has gained experience in organising international media conferences, international short film festivals, theatre performances, and media job fairs for students.

Athira P Sajeesh is a faculty member in the Department of Journalism. She is a UGC NET qualified Mass Communication and Journalism Post Graduate. She started her career as a reporter with Reporter Channel, Ernakulam, in 2014 and also worked for Big news online news portal.

She started her teaching journey in 2015 at LISSAH College, Calicut and has 8 years of experience in teaching in various institutions (St. Aloysius College, Elthuruth & St. Alberts College, Ernakulam). She has completed her post-graduation from MG University, and under-graduation from Sree Kerala Varma College Thrissur.
