S.H School of communication in association with Ad Club Kochi conducted a two day workshop COCOON, Concept to Creation under the mentorship of Suresh Eriyat, the famous advertisement director and animator. The COCOON work shop was organized for the Animation and Multimedia students of SHSC.

A five day shooting workshop was held for 2nd year MA Cinema and Television students as a part of their semester project, guided by our guest faculty and the National Award winning film maker Vinod Sukumaran and acclaimed Cinematographer Saji Nair. A dialogue and a playback sequence were shot in the month of October and December.

Hologram Presentation

SH School of Communication teamed up with Times of India and Cloud Qube to organize a hologram presentation at Sacred Heart College. Hologram is a photographic recording of a light field which is seen without the aid of special glasses or other intermediate optics, and is used to display a fully three-dimensional image of the holographed subject. The program as about an Augument Reality project undertaken by Cloud Qube and Graphic designing/Multimedia students of SHSC for Times of India on holographic presentation.

World Premiere of “The Indian Priest”

World Premiere of “The Indian Priest”

SH School of Communication organised the World Premiere of ‘The Indian Priest', a documentary film by the renowned Swedish filmmaker, Mattias Löw, a faculty member of SHSC, on 5 October 2015at Sacred Heart College, Thevara. The film maps the life of Fr.Raphael Kurian, a Catholic Priest belonging to CMI congregation from Kerala, serving in Sweden. The Indian Priest, an hour long simple documentary is tribute to the people who dedicated their lives for serving the society.

Field Trip – Matte Painting

Graphic Designing and Animation students of SHSC along with four faculties went for a field trip to Wayanad to capture the input source materials required for Digital Matte Painting & VFX Projects. The trip also aimed at providing training to students to use cameras at various exterior locations considering the different light settings. The students captured around 6300 images and 1500 videos using DSLR, 7D, 6D and 5D cameras.

Interaction with Jayan K Cherian

SH School of Communication organized an interactive session with the famous poet and film maker Jayan K Cherian on September 2015. The department head Dr.Asha Achy Joseph introduced the guest to the students. Cherian shared his experiences as a filmmaker after the screening of a clip from his award winning documentary film, Papilio Budha (2013). The film went into controversy when it was denied censorship certificate by the Censorship Board.

Commemoration of the Hiroshima Day

In conjunction with the 70th anniversary of the first nuclear attack at Hiroshima, students of SH School of Communication conducted a rally and a poster exhibition. About 30 students took part in the rally with posters and images showing the devastating impact and effect of the nuclear bomb attack. The rally propagated the slogan 'No more wars' delivered by the Principal of SH College. Later, the posters were exhibited at the Thevera Junction, and thereafter at SHSC.

Ore Udal

Narrating the tale of a nun who was traumatised after being sexually abused, the short film Ore Udal directed by Dr.Asha Achy Joseph, HOD, SH School of Communication, is the only non-feature film selcted from South India for the 46th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa.

Ramon Magsaysay award winner and noted journalist P Sainath inauguratedthe second edition of Chavara Lecture for Social Transformation held on 15 December 2015. The lecture series conceptualized last year with a view to spread good vibes in the society. Ernakulum District Collector M. G. Rajamanickam IAS was the chief guest of the event. P.Sainath conducted a seminar on the topic “Media,money power and democracy”.

Team SHSC organized academic retreat every year aiming at specific scholastic outcomes. This year SHSC team choose the serene ambience of Rivera suite to create a room for this where our academic and professional priorities and experiences are exchanged, evaluated and reconstructed. The first day was completely dedicated for team building activities and interactive tasks under the guidance of Mr. Manu Jose and Mr. Santhosh Kumar.
