Bachelor programme in Animation and Visual Effects is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University in Kottayam. The Programme begins with understanding theory in art and design, animation and visual effects, and progresses to basic training in animation and visual effects practices and technologies. Students learn to create animation both in 2D and 3D from fundamentals, learn about photographic composition, videography, scriptwriting, storyboarding and more. The program encourages innovation and research while stressing on strong technical and presentation skills. The candidates become eligible for a degree after six-semesters of study, spanning over a period of three years and successful completion of the examinations.

This Animation and Visual Effects programme prepares graduates for a wide range of careers in the industry such as 3D or 2D animator, Layout artist, Scriptwriter, Storyboard artist, Rigger, Character modeller, Texturing artist, Roto artist, Video editor, Lighting and rendering artist, Motion graphics artist, Compositor, Match-move technician, Flash animator, Digital painting artist, Cartoonist, Illustrator, Concept artist, Photographer, Videographer, Visual effects supervisor and 3D architectural visualiser. The knowledge and skills imparted encompass understanding of craft at a technical level, design, drawing, critical thinking, creativity, leadership for production, and a fundamental awareness of theory and history.
